Few days to go and we, Filipinos will be celebrating our Independence Day! June 12 is a very special day for us Filipinos and more for Cavitenios.
As far as history is concerned, Cavite is very well known for its major role in the proclamation of independence of the Philippines.
It was in Kawit, Cavite (formerly known as Cavite el Viejo) where General Emilio Aguinaldo decraled, in the form of proclamation, the Philippines independence. The date was June 12, 1898.
This event also includes the unfurling of the National Flag of the Philippines, made by Mrs. Marcela Agoncillo, Lorenza Agoncillo and Delfina Herboza in Hongkong
Marcha Filipina Magdalo or now known as Lupang Hinirang, the Philippines National Anthem is also played along by the San Francisco de Malabon Marching band composed by Julian Felipe.
