Summer is fast approaching (actually, its summertime as of this writing). Tourist as well as locals of Philippines are getting ready in looking for available beaches and pools around the area. Luckily, Cavitenios don't have to go far away from Cavite. Cavite, do have many beaches and great hotels or establishment with swimming pools wherein, they can enjoy their summertime.

Among the beautiful and enchanting place is the Puerto Azul in Ternate Cavite.

Puerto Azul made its name as one of the Cavite, and Philippines top hot spot during summer time or vacation. It has been known for its world class beach resort, the coves with sandy beaches, elegant but justifiable accommodations, a golf course and restaurants. Also, inside the facility or the vicinity of Puerto Azul, you may do many activities, like some water sports or beach side sports (too many of them to name here).

This summer destination had become one of the Cavite's Pride and Finest due to the high quality of service they offer.

PS: I cant find any website nor updated contact numbers of them. If you know one, please feel free to include it on the comment section. Thanks!

SM Hypermarket construction is now on going at Rosario, Cavite. This SM Hypermarket is being constructed near CEPZA Rosario. The exact location of the building will rise between Costa Verde Subdivision and Petron Chemical Corporation.

Having a SM Hypermarket in a province like Cavite simply means that the town where it reside is developing and improving. Also, same as the population growth. It can also give jobs and possible income not only for the Cavitenios but also to other people living at our province.

The only problem that I can see is that, it will worsen more the annoying bumper to bumper traffic that me and other commuters are experiencing when passing along the Tejero (CEPZA) road.

I think and I do personally believe that the local government as well as the other concerned department or sector must do something to resolve the traffic issue, before the SM Hypermarket at Rosario, Cavite can be fully operational.

I will just clarify that I am not against the construction or the placement of the said market in our area. I just want to say that, local officials and the residents of Rosario Cavite must be ready for the opening of this hypermarket as well as for the other future developments on our town.

A Huge Explosion at Cavite's Capital

The Star Maker Factory - Trece Martirez Blast made a big buzz on the news around the globe. The said firecracker blast scene or location had been dubbed as a Ground Zero, just like what the 9-11 Twin Tower location is being called. As of this writing, the investigation is still on going. Up to this date, the relatives and friends of those who has been killed and hurt are still asking for justice, support and prayers for their love ones.

This blast had made a huge effect in the Province of Cavite, specially in Trece Martirez (capital of Cavite). Many establishments suffered from large wreckage and damage, including the Republic of Cavite restaurant which I mentioned in the previous post.

Here are some of the media writings/articles about the blast:

From Philstar.com

5 Dead, 46 injured in Cavite Blast

MANILA, Philippines -- The death toll in the blast inside a firecracker factory in Cavite rose to five, while 46 people were reported injured, a report from the Office of the Civil Defense-Regional Disaster Coordinating Center said.

In Its 2 p.m. update, the center said the victims were all brought to the Mark Jem Hospital and Gen. Aguinaldo General Hospital in Trece Martirez City, Cavite. The fatalities suffered from third degree burns, the report added.

Frederick Bragas of the OCD-RDCC 4-A said forensic experts are now determining the identities of the fatalities, all workers of Starmaker Factory in Barangay Conchu, Trece Martirez.

"Some of the rescuers only recovered body parts so it is not safe to presume that they died in the blast," Bragas said in a phone interview.

The blast happened inside the half hectare compound of the firecracker factory around 11 a.m. today. Initial report showed that some of the workers were testing the firecrackers to be delivered to the Mall of Asia in Pasay City.

The explosion caused a fire at the pyrotechnics factory. It also shattered the glass of two adjacent semi-conductor plants, injuring some of the employees.

Cavite Factory Blast Stared From Metal Container Van

MANILA, Philippines – The power explosion that hit a fireworks factory in Cavite province last week may have started from a metal container van inside the establishment’s production area.

This was according to Nenita Guyo, one of the survivors in the blast that killed 11 people and wounded about 70 others last January 29.

A statement from the Inter-Agency Anti-Task Force (IATF) quoted Guyo as saying that she heard a loud explosion from a table where her co-worker, Avelina Rodriguez, was weighing black powder between two container vans.

She was also quoted as saying that the blast was so powerful that Rodriguez's body was lifted off the ground together with the table she was working on.

“May biglang sumiklab sa ilalim ng mesa sa puwesto ni Nanay Velen (Rodriguez) at biglang sumabog ng malakas at nakita ko siyang umangat kasama ang mesa. Di ko na nakita kung saan siya napunta,” Guyo said.

["There was a spark from beneath the table where Nanay Velen was working, then there was an explosion which was so powerful I saw Nanay Velen lifted off the ground."]

Guyo was one of the victims that survived the blast that took place in Starmaker factory in Trece Martires City at about 10:45 a.m. last January 29.

Another company, Yushita Electronics, located in the same compound as Starmaker, also burned down in the fire that followed the explosion.- Aie Balagtas See, GMANews.TV

Work Force Status In Cavite

Friday, February 13, 2009

Due to the global financial crisis, there are lots of company here and abroad do minimize their manpower and expenditures. Thus, resulting to mass-layoff, forced manpower resignation and to the worst, total company shutdown or closure.

Province of Cavite
is not exempted here. Cavite, as we all know, do have many business establishments, corporations and companies. Among and one of the biggest of them is the CEPZA.

EPZA Cavite is a big compound of many companies engaging from garments, electronics up to house construction and planning. I used to work there as an office staff at a house planning company before. Each company located at the compound do have many workers and staffs, wherein, their families are being fed and sheltered by their employment salary at CEPZA.

But due to the global financial crisis, CEPZA is now facing the kind of problem that other institution or establishments are now experiencing.

Other companies in Cavite (as well as their employees) are also hit by this crisis. One big example is
Intel located at Manggahan Cavite. Intel Cavite closes their company only this year. Arlita Narag, Intel Technology Philippines Inc. corporate affairs head told the reporters that the closure is because of the huge economic crisis we are now facing. They will be going to continue their business at China.

As of this writing, Cavite is standing still and facing bravely this kind of crisis. Cavitenios are always positive that when something closes, another one will open.

Update: According to a news article of Philstar, the Town of Cavite will loose 50M revenues in Intel closure.

General Trias town administrator Hernando Granados said Intel's operation will definitely affect the income of the municipality. "I can say that it will affect the income of General Trias but instead of sulking, we would rather look for alternatives," Granados said in a telephone interview.

He noted that the Intel facility is one of the top revenue generators of the town, which has been awarded by a business group as one of the most business friendly local government units in 2007.

Though the local government has yet to receive official notice of closure, Granados said he has been hearing reports that the company is closing. He disclosed that one of the reasons for the closure was high electricity cost, which company officials have been complaining about since last year.

Intel has released a statement early this morning confirming earlier reports of closure. It said it plans to "restructure some of its manufacturing operations and align its manufacturing capacity to current market conditions."

Cavite - The Movie

Thursday, February 12, 2009

Have you seen this movie entitled "Cavite"? I never heard of it nor watched it. I just found it out while I am surfing and browsing the web for something that relates to Cavite. And I am surprised that, there is a film titled Cavite and it really caught my attention.

I read many movie reviews of this film. I do found out that the movie "CAVITE" is a tale of terrorist groups and a Fil-Am named Adam. It was an independent film written and directed by two Filipino Americans named Neil Gamazon and Ian Dela Llana (2005).

It looks like that the film is inspired by the movie Phone Booth starring Collin Farrel. The movie played all along with that cellphone. The callers (kidnappers) usually contact Mr. Adam on how he can save his familie's life, and if he fails to follow their directions or orders, his family will be beheaded.

But I am just a bit curios on why does this film titled "Cavite"? The terrorist group who kidnapped Adam's family is Abu Sayaff, which are hiding and spreading their kidnappings and terrorist act in Mindanao. Also, I do think, that this is not filmed here at Cavite.

For the complete information of this movie, go to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0428303/

This is the official seal of my beloved Province of Cavite. Check out and be amazed of its symbol meanings and history. Our province' respective towns do have their own seal also. Do not be confuse with them.

Cavite - Be Part Of The Revolution

Video courtesy of Shermin Salazar

“There is a revolution in Cavite and you are invited to be part of it,” says Cavite Governor Erineo “Ayong” Maliksi as he addresses Caviteños during the celebration of the Kalayaan Festival at the Aguinaldo Shrine in Kawit on June 12, 2008.

Maliksi does not refer to the uprising similar to what transpired in the province more than a century ago. Instead, he speaks of Cavite’s continued pursuit of excellence and success. He talks about the province’s quest to revolutionize the way the people of Cavite think and act; ensuring that they recognize their important role in building a province that every Caviteño and Filipino would be proud of. Thus the province’s new tagline
“Cavite: Be Part of the Revolution!”

The tagline encompasses the identity of Cavite which was introduced to the public during the culmination of the 2-week Kalayaan Festival dubbed as
“Katapangan ng Kabitenyo Noon, Ngayon, at Bukas”. Made vivid and exciting by float parades and street dancing; re-enactment of the declaration of the Philippine Independence; audio-visual presentations; and performances by Filipino singers and entertainers, the Kalayaan Festival was a fitting avenue for the province to share its culture, successes, and aspirations to all Caviteños and guests alike.

Republic of Cavite: A Celebration of History and Independence
(Source: Lifestyle Section Manila Bulletin)

On
June 12, 1898, between 4 and 5 in the afternoon, Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo, in the presence of a huge crowd, proclaimed the independence of the Philippines (from Spain) at his residence in Kawit, Cavite – the same day the Philippine flag was first unfurled and the Philippine National Anthem “Lupang Hinirang” was first publicly played.

Indeed a historic event and place that
true-blue Caviteno Andrew Pacumio wants to relive day after day and impart to his fellow Cavitenos. Thus, he built a replica of Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo’s mansion in the heart of Cavite’s capital Trece Martirez City and called it “Republic of Cavite.”

Strategically located behind the town’s municipal hall on Martyr’s Avenue, Republic of Cavite is actually a four-storey restaurant and occasions venue that features rooms named after some of Cavite’s momentous landmarks, a spacious garden and a park patterned after the popular Picnic Grove Tagaytay.

About Republic of Cavite
A sojourn to the historic province of Cavite is never complete without bringing home special delicacies for which the province came to be known.

And for this goal, the best place to visit is the Republic of Cavite situated right at the heart of Cavite’s capital. Starting from the edifice, the Republic is a replica of Emilio Aguinaldo’s mansion in Kawit, Cavite and has rooms and function halls aptly named after historic places. But the best thing about the restaurant is its wide array of native delicacies that are unique and really delicious as they are prepared with original recipes.

Who wouldn’t be fascinated and intrigued by delicacies called
Lihim ni Lola, Lihim ni Emilio and Paborito ni Aguinaldo? Lihim ni Lola is an original recipe of Town’s Delight’s matriarch Mama Cely. One look at it and you would think it’s your ordinary rice pudding. But as you munch the glutinous violet rice cake, you would reach its super delicious filling that only Lihim ni Lola has. It’s called lihim because it is supposed to be a little secret and the only way to discover it is to go grab a piece and unravel the secret for yourself!

Lihim ni Emilio, on the other hand, is a yummy dessert consisting of suman sa ibos, chico and mango topped with ice cream and pinipig. Another blockbuster among patrons is Paborito ni Aguinaldo, fried camote strips rolled in ground peanuts and jackfruit strips and finally wrapped in lumpia wrappers.

These lip-smacking delicacies are perfectly paired with cold flavored salabat with langka, pandan or tanglad, just pick your choice of flavor.
