Tejeros convention (also known as Tejeros Assembly or Congress) played an important role in the Philippines history and independence.
Lets drill down more on the Tejero's history. According to WikiPilipinas, The Tejeros Convention (also referred to as Tejeros Congress or Tejeros Assembly), held at Tejeros (now General Trias) in Cavite on 22 March 1897, was the meeting that brought together the members of both the Magdalo and Magdiwang factions of the Katipunan. This is considered as the first Presidential and Vice Presidential election in the history of the Philippines.
In pursuit of forming a revolutionary government, the revolutionaries, headed by Jacinto Lumbreras, assembled themselves in a friar hacienda. Originally, the assembly was called upon to bridge the increasing gap between the Magdiwang and Magdalo factions and to discuss matters concerning the defense of Cavite against the Spaniards. According to Lumbreras, a Magdiwang, the subjects were not discussed; instead, the assembly turned out to be an election of leaders for the revolution. This “call” unceremoniously discarded the Supreme Council of the Katipunan.
The Tejeros Convention Election Result
There was no doubt that Aguinaldo, who was then busy on the military front in Pasong Santol, won in the said election. The majority of the voters were Caviteños and were on the general's side. Bonifacio, defeated as President, was elected Director of the Interior which obviously maneuvered him out of power. It must have been an insult to the Supremo to lose in the election especially since even the Magdiwang, who were supposed to be his supporters, did not vote for him for the two highest positions.
Many Caviteño elite were doubtful of his qualification – Bonifacio was neither educated nor a Caviteño himself. Daniel Tirona protested that Bonifacio's position, Director of Interior, should be occupied by a person with a lawyer's diploma; thus, he proposed a Caviteño lawyer, Jose del Rosario, for the position. Bonifacio's pride was affronted ego and he walked out of the assembly, after proclaiming the result of the convention null and invalid by virtue of his authority as Supremo. This started the rivalry between Bonifacio and Aguinaldo, and the decline of the Katipunan as an organization.
And the rest of the Tejeros Convention is history. If you want to include some bits of information about this post, feel free to state it on the comment section.

You know who Eros Atalia is? Well, he is a Cavite born skilled writer. I do personally found his books and write-ups amazing and really full of humour. I manage to collect some information about him below.
From Eric S. Caruncho of Inquirer.net
HE may have been named after the god of love, but Eros S. Atalia, this year’s first prize winner in the Maikling Kuwento category, draws his inspiration from those who rage, rage against the dying of the light.
(I want to draw attention to those who have not been given attention and value what has not been valued: the feelings and emotions of ordinary people with ordinary problems, everything ordinary that is never ordinary for the ordinary).”
Although his story takes place in a very specific social milieu—the grim waterfront of Cavite City where marginal fishermen struggle to eke out a bare existence and take what meager pleasures life has to offer them—Atalia hesitates to call himself a “social realist.”
He says he tries to avoid contaminating his writing with politics, preferring to put down his own feelings and observations. But true to the aphorism, the personal is, unavoidably, political.
“Tawag sa akin ni Sir Jun Cruz Reyes ‘hindi lantad na aktibista’ sa pagsusulat. Ayaw kong tawagin ang sarili ko na aktibista pero ayon kay Jun Cruz Reyes, aminin ko man o hindi, punung-puno ng aktibismo at hinanakit at galit sa mundo ang pagsusulat ko. (Jun Cruz Reyes calls me a ‘hidden activist’ in my writings. I don’t want to call myself an acitivist, but he says whether I admit it or not, my writing is full of activism, hurt and anger at the world).”
The astringent flavor of Atalia’s writing can be found in his first book, “Taguan Pung (Koleksyon ng Mga Dagling Kathang Di Pambata) at Manwal ng Mga Nagpapagal (Kopi Teybol Dedbol Buk),” published by UST earlier this year.
In fact, Intoy Syokoy, the main character in Atalia’s story, is based on one of his contemporaries, a subsistence fisherman who, in spite of being poor, illiterate and unattractive became a local hero of sorts because of his skills. His heroine, on the other hand, sells “tilapia,” a Cavite City euphemism for the low-grade prostitutes who service the fishermen, and who sometimes settle for being paid in fish instead of cash when business is slow. It is quite a refreshing change from stale social realist portrayals of noble “fisherfolk” struggling against exploitation by the comprador class. Rather than “social realism,” Atalia prefers to call it “semi-documentary.”
The son of a veteran newsman, Atalia grew up in Cavite City, witnessing the rapid decline of its fortunes after the closing of the US base in Sangley Point. One of his regrets is never learning to speak Chavacano, the now-vanishing dialect of Cavite City. (He peppers his dialogue with a smattering of Chavacano, perhaps in the hope of delaying its imminent demise as a language.)
Atalia graduated with a major in Filipino from the Philippine Normal University, and started teaching Filipino at the University of Sto. Tomas, where he has worked for the last eight years. He was also affiliated with UST’s Social Research Center and the Center for Creative Writing Studies.
He says his early works were philosophical in nature, until Jun Cruz Reyes and some of his other mentors and role models convinced him to go back to basics and explore his roots. This led to a reexamination of his hometown and its lower depths, which proved to be a motherlode of inspiration.
With his amazing work and contribution as a Cavitenio, he deserves to be called as a Cavite's Pride and Finest.
To all Cavitenio's, probably they all know now the meaning of this new Cavite Logo or Brand. Stickers and bannes of this new brand are seen everywhere, from public jeepneys, tricycles, bus up to business establishment and government offices.
To those who still didn't know or want some more in-depth information about this Cavite Be Part of the Revolution logo, here it is.
The new brand with the tagline “ Cavite : Be part of the revolution!” represents the five personalities of Cavite – historical, progressive, globally-competitive, service-oriented and visionary.
THE CAVITE BRAND LOGO
This visual identity speaks of Caviteño personality and symbolizes the thing valued by the province. The brand logo's blue, red and yellow colors, including the three stars are reminiscent of the Philippine flag. These elements emphasize the rich history of Cavite and the impact and contribution of the province to the Philippine Republic, foremost of which is being the birthplace of Philippine Independence.
The blue color used for Cavite font represents the generally ideal peace and order situation the province enjoys.
The curved solid red band reflects Cavite's continuing strive and dynamism for progress and change, driven by service-oriented people.
The sun symbolizes the determination to rise above challenges and become competitive in the global arena. It reflects the Caviteño's visionary personality - that of being forward-looking, advance and optimistic.

TJ Manotoc of ABS-CBN news discussed Efren's work and heroic actions. Here is a short snippet from his article.
"An organization of young Filipinos is actively making a difference in the lives of children in depressed areas.
The Dynamic Teen Company (DTC) aims to uplift the lives of underprivileged children younger than themselves through education. Armed with only a pushcart full of books and other educational materials, DTC brings the classroom to children and educate in slum areas, dumpsites and even in the cemetery.
Formed in 1997 in Cavite by Efren Peñaflorida, its mission then was to keep the youth away from trouble and vices.
“Nakita namin yung pinaka-ugat ng problema na nanggagaling sa mga slum areas kung saan ginu-groom yung mga future gang members, gang leaders, so kaya nag-start kami noong 1999 na mag reach out sa mga bata sa slum area, para dun pa lang ma-guide na namin sila na di sila sumama sa mga ibang klaseng activities,” said Peñaflorida.
Born to tricycle driver Efren Sr. and housewife Lucila, Penaflorida grew up near the city's dumpsite where he spent most of his younger years playing and swimming in the garbage beach.
Hardworking and intelligent, Penaflorida’s commitment is to improve the standard of public secondary education. For more than four years, he has been giving free tutorial classes to high school and college students.
Penaflorida exudes the qualities of an everyday hero. His life would seem ordinary, but the tasks he undertakes are extraordinary earning the respect of his peers and even parents whom he helped in the past.
There was a time when he skipped a class to convince a peer to abandon his attempt to kill himself. He also stood up against an abusive teacher and brought the complaint to the City Schools Division Superintendent to protect his classmates.
Penaflorida had his share of bad experiences while growing up near the slums. He had fallen prey to bullies and solvent kids in the area.
By the age of 16, he knew he had to do something to change all these. Together with some classmates, they started DTC.
Today, Penaflorida wants to address the growing issue of juvenile delinquents. He also wants to address moral, and the values of education of today's youth.
Michael Advincula is a living example of the group’s positive work. The organization was able to help Advincula turn his life around for the better. Advincula used to be a thief and an Akyat Bahay gang member. Now, he is a full time volunteer and scholar of DTC.
“Nagbago po yung buhay ko dahil sa pagtutuok nila sa akin. Tinuro nila lahat ng pwede kong malaman, na dahil po doon nakita ko na kaya po pa lang tumulong at tulungan yung mga tulad ko po. Dati sa madilim na parte ng buhay, sila po nag-angat ng buhay ko,” said Advincula."
