For those who still didn't know or still confused, Tagaytay is still part of the Cavite Province and it is a City. It just so happened that the city of Tagaytay is often called with its single name "Tagaytay". Nonetheless; Tagaytay is one of the Cavite's Pride and Finest.
Tagaytay City Brief History (courtesy of www.cavite.gov.ph)
Tagaytay City's name has two origins. The first is rooted in an ancient folk tale where a father and son were hunting for wild boar when their quarry suddenly turned around and attacked them. The boy shouted to his father "Taga itay! Taga itay!" (Hack it father, hack it!) The boy's shouts echoed to the countryside and became a favorite tale of the locals and in the course of time, the place came to be known as "Tagaytay".
The second was recounted by Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo himself in his Memoirs. A local "kainginero" was asked by Spaniard, "Como se llama este sitio?" (How is this place called?), They did not, however, understand each other because of language barrier. The locals son, getting impatient, cried out, "Taga itay! Taga itay!" and the Spaniard replied "Ahh, Tagaytay!". Our Revolutionaries heavily used Tagaytay as a connectin linkand secret passageway between Cavite and Batangas during the Philippine Revolution. Gen. Emilio Aguinaldo and his army, in fact, captured the entire 72nd Battallion of the Spanish colonial army after passing through Tagaytay en route to Talisay, Batangas.
Tagaytay's strategic location was punctuated even more the 11th Airborne Division of the U.S. Army airdropped military back-up of the Ridge, and from there launched massive northward drive to Manila, culminating in the liberation of Manila from the Japanese on February 3, 1943. Tagaytay became a chartered city by virtue of Commonwealth Act No. 338 creating Tagaytay City, the city charter has been amended thrice: first, by Commonwealth Act No. 397 approved on September 6, 1938; second, under Republic Act No. 3622 of June 22, 1963; and third, by Republic Act No. 4438 of June 19, 1965.
Tagaytay Tourism Profile (courtesy of www.tagaytay.gov.ph)
Tagaytay City is one of the vital tourist sites, which play a very significant role in the country’s tourism industry. From the National and Regional points of view, Tagaytay City ranks very high in tourism potentials due to its scenic attraction and available accommodation facilities that meet international standards. Because it is very accessible and strategically near Metro Manila, which is the main entry and exit point of the country’s local and international travellers, Tagaytay remains one of the leading tourist areas in the country.
The main tourist attraction of Tagaytay is the captivating panoramic view of the natural beauty of the Taal Volcano, which is the smallest volcano in the world and where two delectable rare species of fish, the “maliputo” and “tawilis” are found. In spite of its nearness to Metro Manila, Tagaytay has a unique rustic atmosphere and invigorating cool climate. This is the reason why people do not only want to visit the place but prefer to hold seminars / conferences the city. Complementing the natural endowment are several tourist establishments, which are attractions themselves.
I hope I have given you an idea of what Tagaytay City is all about. "Akyat na sa Tagaytay" and be amazed of its wonders, romantic places and heartjumping sceneries.

More of my Cavitenio and Cavitenia bloggers post soon.
This is a follow up on my SM Rosario Hypermarket Construction blog post. Well as the title it self says, SM Rosario open up a job fest at Tejeros Convention Rosario, Cavite. The Job Fest starts today, April 23, 2009 up to April 25, 2009.
This is a good news to us Filipinos specially for Cavitenios who are seeking for job (or for more greener pasture).
According to this blog post from Good News Pilipinas;
Mall developer and operator SM Prime Holdings will open three more malls this year and expand two existing ones which will create about 6,000 jobs. This just means that many more jobs will be opened and created for us, thus decreasing the percentage of unemployment.
Despite the tough business environment caused by the global economic crisis, SM Prime will open this year SM City Naga in Camarines Sur, SM City Rosario in Cavite and SM City Pamplona in Las Piñas City. It will also open the Sky Garden at the newly expanded SM City North Edsa and will expand SM City Rosales in Pangasinan.
“By the end of the year, SM Prime will have 36 malls nationwide and three malls in China, with an estimated gross floor area of 4.9 million square meters,” SMIC said.
In the local malls, at least 6,000 jobs will be created for sales ladies, salesmen, cashiers, product promoters, waiters, janitors and the list goes on.
Despite the deepening economic crisis, the company’s mall expansion program this year is even faster than the 9-percent expansion it implemented last year when it added only 353,000 square meters to its total selling space.
The expansion plan is part of the company’s thrust of opening smaller malls in more geographic locations nationwide, and creating more jobs for the Filipino people.
Last year, SM Prime opened SM City Marikina, SM City Baliwag and the SM Supercenter Rosales, while it expanded The Annex in SM City North Edsa—making it the third-biggest mall in the world—and The Atrium in SM Megamall.
SM Prime operates 33 malls around the country as well as three malls in Xiamen, Jinjiang and Chengdu, China.
At the same time, SMIC added that its supermarket unit was planning to add 16 more outlets and five “hypermarkets” in 2009 as part of its expansion plan.
This pace is faster than that set in 2008 which saw SM supermarkets open in Edsa Pasay, Parkmall Cebu, Nagtahan, Marikina, Tanay, North Edsa 2 and Cubao, in addition to two hypermarkets.
While I am browsing the web for other resources/online information about the Province of Cavite, I stumbled upon on this government owned website of Carmona.
The web site design and interface is a bit eye catchy and user friendly. Not mentioning that the webpage had been nominated and become one of the finalists of the recent Philippine Web Awards. While browsing the Carmona web page, I ended up into their municipality history, which I think is a little bit entertaining and a must know for my fellow Cavitenios.
Here is an excerpt of Carmona history.
HISTORY OF CARMONA
"In the late 16th century, a Spanish colonial resettlement program was implemented across wide areas of what came to be known as the province of Cavite. The program was designed to integrate the Filipinos into the religious and political institutions of the Spaniards. Silang was first established as a mission town in 1595. Together with the other mission towns in the province, Silang became one of the centers of religious and economic activities in the first centuries of Spanish colonial rule.
Carmona used to be a barrio of the Mission Town of Silang. It was locally known as "Latag", a tagalog word for "plain" due to the numerous hills and plains in the area. At that time, Barrio Latag was just a small farming community with a very small population. As the population in Barrio Latag rapidly increased, religious and political separation from the town of Silang was later sought from Spain. Barrio Latag eventually became an independent municipality on February 20, 1857 by virtue of the Royal Decree issued by the King of Spain through Governor General Fernando de Norzagaray.
The name Carmona was adopted as a sign of gratitude to the Spanish officials who influenced the Central Government at the time of separation of the barrio. With boundaries properly delineated and a church established, Carmona started its own religious and political administration. The people of Carmona have actively participated in the revolution against the Spaniards. It was also witnessed the Filipinos' resistance against the Japanese forces. During the Japanese occupation, some of Carmona's prominent houses were used as Japanese headquarters while the hills became the stronghold of Filipino revolutionaries.
After the war, Carmona started to find its path towards economic and political stabilization. During this period, the provision of a stable means of livelihood for all the people became top priority. Since Carmona was basically agricultural, the communal agricultural lands were offered to the farmers for cultivation through lottery. This practice, held every three years, was locally known as "SORTEO" . Since then, "sorteo" has been embedded into the municipality's traditional procedures on land ownership. To this day, farm lots are being raffled off to interested farmers, lucky winners are awarded the right to till and develop a certain section of the communal lands. The traditional practice of "Sorteo" defuses agrarian unrest and decreases tensions on land conflicts. "
There are lots of stuffs to check and read at the government page, whoever is the administrator or the webmaster of that site, I salute him/her for his/her hardwork. Check their official site at http://carmonagov.net/.
Governor Ayong Maliksi delivered his state of the Province Address last March 23 at the Provincial Gymnasium at Trece Martirez Cavite.
Here is the article of the whole story of the event taken from the Cavite Province's government website.
Cavite Governor Ayong Maliksi’s State of the Province Address enumerated plans for Cavite to counter the effects of the global financial crisis in the province. The Cavite Investment Promotion Center which will serve as a one-stop shop to assist investors was also inaugurated during the event. Members and officers of the Cavite Corporate Social Responsibility Council also took their oath and expressed their support to the programs of the provincial government by implementing programs to help promote Cavite as a prime tourism and investment area.

My purpose of posting or writing about this is to unite or meet my fellow bloggers that lives and stays in Cavite. I want to have a separate section/page for this Cavitenio and Cavitenia Bloggers within this blog. Maybe, this can be a start of an organization or a community of bloggers within Cavite.
To start things of, I would like to showcase two of my online Cavitenio blogger friends. Although I wasn't able to meet them personally, I will be very much willing to meet them in near future.
The first Cavitenio blogger I will feature is Master Ricky of RickyRefuerzo.Com. Here is an excerpt of his bio taken from his own blog.
I am a photo hobbyist by heart, this is very evident in my style of taking pictures. I started late on this hobby, it was in October 2004 when I first bought a film SLR camera, it was my dearest Nikon F55.You may check out his blog; RickyRefuerzo.Com for more details (and his contact information regarding his services).
Knowing nothing about the technical aspect of photography, I enrolled at FPPF’s Basic Photography Class in November of the same year. From then on, I strived to improve my photographic skills. It was only this year when I decided to go digital, besides my strict budget, I was looking for a camera that would best suit my taste, that’s why I still chose Nikon, a D80 as my main camera & a D70 as a back-up.I still can’t consider myself a “full pledge pro”, although I covered several weddings & other occasions, it’ll be premature to tag myself as one. Although my shots are comparable with the works some of the photographers that I’ve seen, I would say that I’m still learning the business side of this craft.
Up next is Cavitenia blogger friend of mine. Her name is Karen Dayle of KarenDayle.Com.
Karen or Karun is a young Filipina (Cavitenia) talented blogger that lives at General Trias Cavite. She was featured at the YoungestBlogger.Com website. Here is a short excerpt from her about the owner blog page.

Food catering and service is a very well known specialty in Cavite. Cavite do have many caterers some of it are really being recognized for its high quality and elegat setups and services. I will name two of them in this post.
Towns Delight The Caterer - I already posted their information at this blog. I do personally consider them a top choice due to their high quality service not mentioning that they are already on their 36th years in the food business. Having that years of experience, Towns Delight The Caterer had earned their reputation not only on their clients as well as to the other caterers.
In a nutshell, Town’s Delight has established itself as a reputable and dependable catering business in the Philippine that can handle wedding and other events with guaranteed expertise. It has earned the respect of the Filipino as a premier and professional company that caters to the high-end clientele.
Señor Chef Mateo Catering Service - Señor Chef Mateo was established very recently as a sister company of Town’s Delight, the Caterer, a momentous move to provide clients with more options to address their catering and event management needs.
As such, Señor Chef Mateo basically maintains the same standards as those of Town’s Delight, the same quality of foods and services that have captured Cavite’s taste for more than three decades now. Their staffs are trained well by the Towns Delight mentors and trainers. Their food and service price is a little bit lower compared to the first mentioned caterer. So if you can't afford Towns, then you can go to Chef Mateo.
Hope I provided you enough and straight to the point information about your catering needs. Feel free to leave me a message below on what you want to know more about them.
