Everest: Beyond The Limit - 2009 Information

Everest: Beyond the Limit is a Discovery Channel reality television series about yearly attempts to summit Mount Everest organized and led by New Zealander Russell Brice.
A 17 member production crew followed 11 climbers, three guides, and a team of Sherpas up the mountain in April and May 2006. The first season's six-part series included double-amputee Mark Inglis' ascent and footage of British climber David Sharp, who died in the attempt. The series was shot using high altitude equipment and helmet mounted cameras worn by Sherpas.

In the second season, biker Tim Medvetz and Danish asthmatic Mogens Jensen returned to successfully summit despite Jensen's initial unwillingness to use oxygen and Medvetz's accidental fall and hand injury. Jensen nearly died on the descent when a piton attached to a rock pass came loose and he fell a few feet off the slope. Rod Babar ascended ahead of Medvetz with a cell phone battery taped to his chest, which upon summiting he used to make a mobile phone call to his family.
Mountaineer David Tait attempted the first double-traverse of Everest, planning to ascend the north side, descend the south, and make the return trip. Tait reached the south side base but declined to complete his plan as he had lagged behind Phurba Tashi. He respectfully felt that Tashi would purposefully have to let him reach his objective first to secure the record. Fred Ziel completed his first summit of Everest from the north side (he had previously failed twice after climbing the south), while Katsusuke Yanagisawa—at age 71—became the oldest man to summit Everest as of 2007.
Yanagi experienced intermittent throat pain but was otherwise completely healthy upon his return to base camp. The following day, Brice presented him with a gift before packing up camp. Following the last four episodes of the second season of Everest, the Discovery Channel aired an After the Climb segment similar to the Deadliest Catch series' After the Catch.
Phil Keoghan hosted discussions on several subjects with the show's participants and several well-known climbers, including Peter Hillary. Common topics included meteorology, dangers such as frostbite and oxygen starvation, equipment (especially the use of oxygen), and the workings of Brice's business.

Urban Meyer Leave of Absence from Florida Gators
Urban Meyer takes leave of absence from Florida Gators head coaching job according to his words at a press conference that aired live on ESPN News Sunday from New Orleans, beginning just before 5 pm EST. In a dramatic change of heart from Saturday night, Urban Meyer is taking a leave of absence instead of resigning outright from the Florida Gators football head coaching job in order "to get healthy" and "to do right by my family."
The Urban Meyer leave of absence comes instead of an outright resignation because of what he deemed "for the love I have for these players", which means he expects to return after coaching the Allstate Sugar Bowl on New Year's Day sometime in the future, with support of the University of Florida.

Urban Meyer to Take Leave of Absence
A day after Urban Meyer shocked the college football world by saying he would resign as head coach at Florida, Meyer has changed his mind.
In a press conference Sunday, Meyer announced that he is planning to take a leave of absence -- but not quit -- to deal with health problems related to issues with his heart. Offensive coordinator Steve Addazio will fill in as interim head coach while Meyer is out.
Asked whether taking a leave of absence was on the table from the beginning despite his initial resignation, Meyer said, "Some people who are very close to me advised me to step away for a little bit. The option was there from Day 1."
That change from resignation to leave of absence opens the door for a return to coaching sooner or later, and Meyer seems to think he'll be on the sidelines when the Gators open next season. "I do, in my gut, believe that will happen."
He also explained how he changed his mind in 24 hours: "It's very simple ... I care so much about each individual (on the team). After I saw them out there (at practice Sunday) after the meeting we had (Saturday night) ... it was a heck of a run, a run we're very proud of, and when you sit back and watch the players, to not try (to eventually come back) would not be the right thing to do.

Urban Meyer to take indefinite leave of absence
Urban Meyer changed his mind and decided Sunday to take an indefinite leave of absence, 24 hours after resigning as Gators head coach.
Offensive coordinator Steve Addazio will take over as the interim head coach.
Meyer broke the news to the team before their boarded their flight to New Orleans, where they will play Cincinnati in the Sugar Bowl on Friday. Assistant coach Dan McCarney confirmed the news before the team left Gainesville, saying of Meyer, "He walked around the practice field today and knew he made a mistake. We don't know if it's going to be one month, three months or six months, but he's coming back."
Earlier Sunday, Shelley Meyer told the Orlando Sentinel in a text there was "no chance" Urban Meyer would reconsider his decision. "This is the best decision for him and us right now," Shelley wrote in the message.
Clearly something changed. Meyer, Tim Tebow and athletic director Jeremy Foley are expected to attend a 4:30 p.m. news conference in New Orleans to address the turn of events.
The last 24 hours have been as wild as any the Gators football team has ever experienced.
Meyer, 45, issued a statement Saturday night saying he was resigning as Gators coach for health reasons. Meyer had checked himself into a hospital at least twice in December for chest pains, nausea and sickness, according to a Florida staff member close to Meyer.

American Airlines Flight 331 Update
American Airlines flight 331 from Miami overshot a runway at Jamaica, Tuesday night during a heavy rainstorm in Kingston, injuring dozens of people, officials said. There were no reports of fatalities.
Local news media said 40 passengers were hurt in the crash.
Flight 331 took off from Miami International Airport at 8:52 p.m. and arrived at Norman Manley International Airport at 10:22 p.m. It originated at Reagan National Airport in Washington, D.C.

American Airlines Flight 331 Misses Jamaica Runway; No Injuries Reported
An American Airlines spokesman says a flight from Miami has overshot the runway in Kingston, Jamaica, but came to a safe stop. He says there are no reports of injuries or fatalities.
Charley Wilson says all passengers are off Flight 331. It took off from Miami International Airport Tuesday at 8:52 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive in Kingston at 10:27 p.m.
Willson says it was almost a full flight. He says normally a flight carries 140 passengers plus the crew.
He says more information was not available.
FAA spokeswoman Laura Brown says the plane was a Boeing 737.

David Goldman News Updates Regarding Custody Battle
Fresh information and recent news around the world wide web regarding David Goldman and his custody battle for his son; Sean Goldman.
In a long-awaited decision today, David Goldman child custody battle may be over. Brazilian Chief Justice Gilmar Mendes ordered for Sean Goldman to be returned to his father David Goldman, which means Sean Goldman will leave Brazil and return to the United States. The custody battle was ongoing for a year now since the death of Sean's mother Bruna Bianchi. The decision has been pending for days. On December 16, it was announced by Brazilian Court that Sean Goldman would be returned to his father in less than 48 hours, but that decision was called off and it was ruled that the boy would stay in Brazil to give his own testimony. But, today that decision was overturned again.
Americans were following Sean Goldman's story closely for weeks now. Major TV channels were providing constant updates on the situation. Google Trends always had "david goldman" search terms in the top 20. Now, that the David Goldman's custody battle seems to be over, it will be interesting to see how Sean Goldman will be greeted at home as he lands on American soil.

The Brazilian Federal Court has decided that David Goldman can have custody of 9-year old Sean six days per week...as long as he stays in Brazil. This would be a temporary arrangement until a final decision is made.

This announcement comes just days after the fifth anniversary of Sean's kidnapping by his mother and one day after his stepfather's attorney released the transcript of an interview with a psychologist where Sean stated that he wanted to stay in Brazil.
The psychologist's interview was conducted in Portuguese but a translation of the transcript is available at the Bring Sean Home website. If this translation is accurate, it seems clear that the psychologist was leading Sean to say what his Brazilian family wanted and that he was very uncomfortable about the fact that his stepfamily was watching and listening in another room.

Brazil's chief justice on Tuesday ruled in favor of a U.S. man who has pursued a five-year court battle to gain custody of his son.
According to the court's Web site, Chief Justice Gilmar Mendes ruled David Goldman's 9-year-old son must be delivered to him by the boy's Brazilian relatives, as a federal court ordered last week.
The ruling put Goldman one step closer to finally being reunited with his son, Sean. The boy was taken by Goldman's now-deceased ex-wife to her native Brazil in 2004, where he has remained. Goldman has been fighting to get him back from the boy's stepfather.
Goldman's New Jersey-based lawyer, Patricia Apy, said late Tuesday that she believed Mendes' order required that Sean be handed over immediately, but she said Goldman's attorneys had not heard from lawyers for the Brazilian family.
Lawyers on both sides have said there was still a chance for the Brazilian family to appeal to Brazil's highest appeals court, though the chances of success seemed slight.

NORAD Santa Tracker - A Bit Of Information
The NORAD Tracks Santa Web site is the newest version of a public relations program by NORAD, the North American Aerospace Defense Command, involving the countries of Canada and the United States. Every year for over fifty years on Christmas Eve, NORAD has put out stories of how their powerful tracking systems, such as the Distant Early Warning Line (DEW Line), had detected Santa Claus leaving the North Pole to deliver his presents to children in North America, and in more recent years, around the world.
The Web site is updated each hour to show a CGI-rendered Santa flying over one or more major cities in the time zone where it is midnight. These are viewable as videos which also include a voiceover from a member of NORAD staff (usually; on the 2005—and 2006 due to the voiceovers being re-used—site, the video showing him over London had a voiceover by well known British celebrity Jonathan Ross, and 2004 had former Beatle Ringo Starr), explaining his location along with various facts about Santa and the country he is visiting.

Detecting Santa all starts with the NORAD radar system called the North Warning System. This powerful radar system has 47 installations strung across the northern border of North America. NORAD makes a point of checking the radar closely for indications of Santa Claus leaving the North Pole on Christmas Eve.
The moment our radar tells us that Santa has lifted off, we use our second mode of detection, the same satellites that we use in providing warning of possible missile launches aimed at North America. These satellites are located in a geo-synchronous orbit (that's a cool phrase meaning that the satellite is always fixed over the same spot on the Earth) at 22,300 miles above the Earth. The satellites have infrared sensors, meaning they can detect heat. When a rocket or missile is launched, a tremendous amount of heat is produced - enough for the satellites to detect. Rudolph's nose gives off an infrared signature similar to a missile launch. The satellites can detect Rudolph's bright red nose with practically no problem. With so many years of experience, NORAD has become good at tracking aircraft entering North America, detecting worldwide missile launches and tracking the progress of Santa, thanks to Rudolph.

BlackBerry Messenger Problems - Hit by Third Major Outage
BlackBerry e-mail issues and messenger problems.
BlackBerry users this afternoon have reported another outage affecting the smartphone platform's BlackBerry Information Service. The failures appear broader than the primarily mail-related delays from just last week and now also affect web browsing, BlackBerry Messenger and third-party apps that use Internet access. RIM has been contacted by Electronista for commentary but hasn't yet had the opportunity to respond.

We thought we were crazy, then we got several emails and Twitter DMs inquiring about a BlackBerry Messenger outage where messages are taking a long time to send, receive, or even sometimes not sending or receiving at all for that matter. J.T., the southern country charmer, beat out city boy Stephen Fishbach for season 18’s crown. He actually blew Stephen out of the water getting all 7 of the jury votes. J.T. was a physical powerhouse who duped the shit out of Coach Wade, but needlessly turned on alliance mate Taj Johnson-George at the final four.

Survivor 10 Palau
Tom, the hot older daddy firefighter won his season. He was on the winning tribe that destroyed Stephenie LaGrossa and her tribe of losers a record number of times. He made it all the way without ever receiving a vote against him, killed a shark and won 5 out of 7 individual immunity challenges.
Colby Donaldson
Survivor 2 Australia and Survivor 8 All Stars
Colby was the original hottie and runner up to Tina Wesson. He turned survivor fame and Texan good looks into commercial spots for Schick razors and various little acting roles. He was a physical powerhouse and clashed with Jerri Manthey in Australia. In All Stars, he wasn’t much of a force and was out pretty quick.
Ben “Coach” Wade
Survivor 18 Tocantins
Coach somehow made it all the way to fifth place on his season, despite being one of the most delusional, hypocritical megalomaniacs to ever play the game. The “Dragonslayer” thought he could change the game and win by keeping all the “warriors”. Down with the weak! What Coach couldn’t figure out is that Survivor is a social game first, physical game second. His social game was shit. He also claims to have been abducted by pygmy ass munching natives from the Amazon.
Tyson Apostol
Survivor 18 Tocantins
Tyson is the loud-mouthed, cocky, trash talking Mormon who was in control of the game before getting his ass tossed out by one of the greatest blindsides ever. He was Coach’s main alliance and therefore I hated him. He clashed relentlessly with Sierra… sometimes just to make her cry. There is still come confusion about him as there have been some updates on one of his social networking profiles.
Randy Bailey
Survivor 17 Gabon
Randy found his way onto the jury after being one of Survivor’s grumpiest shit disturbers. He went out of his way to piss on people’s parades and generally hated every single person he was playing with. I’m not sure why he would ever want to do it again.
Rob “Boston Rob” Mariano
Survivor 4 Marquesas and Survivor 8 All Stars
Boston Rob is one of my all time favourites. He didn’t even make the jury in Season 4, but made enough of an impression with his crude behaviour, harsh accent and ruthless game play to earn a spot in All Stars where he dominated the field while falling in love. Rob backstabbed his way to the final two and then proposed to Amber Brkich right before she beat him out for the million bucks. The two then got married, came in second on the Amazing Race and had a baby earlier this year.

She managed to squirm her way through the next few votes to finish 7th. In Guatemala, she made it all the way to the finals before losing the crown to Danni Boatwright.
Jessica “Sugar” Kiper

Sugar was one of the shows most emotional contestants to ever make it to the final tribal council. She finished second runner up behind Susie Smith and winner Bob Crowley. Sugar spent most of the early part of the game banished on Exile Island where she quickly found the hidden immunity idol and managed to stay in the game despite people like Ace, Kenny and Marcus trying to manipulate her emotional side. In the end, she used the immunity idol to save Matty and oust alliance mate Crystal because he was a “better person”.
Amanda Kimmel
Survivor 15 China and Survivor 16 Fans vs Favorites
Amanda is Survivor’s two time loser. She has made it to the final tribal council twice and lost twice- first to Todd Herzog in China and then Parvati Shallow in FvF. As a result, she has spent more time playing Survivor than any other person. In both seasons, she proved to be a strong social player by making and sticking to strong alliances. She is also one of most physically capable women to play the game. She also has the distinction of pulling off two of the Survivor’s greatest blindsides. In FvF, she fooled everyone by playing a hidden immunity idol to knock out Alexis. And then she helped the remaining women convince dumbass Eric to give up his immunity necklace at Tribal Council so they could vote him out.
Courtney Yates
Survivor 15 China
Courtney also made it to China’s Final Tribal Council (it was a threeway with two girls and a gay guy) but lost to Todd as well. Courtney’s attitude, massive eye rolls and snide remarks place her as one of the game’s most memorable bitches. She hated being there, but her one and ones with the camera provided some of China’s greatest moments.
Sandra Diaz-Twine
Survivor 7 Pearl Islands
Sandra was the surprise winner of Survivor Pearl Islands. She was largely overshadowed by bigger personalities like Johnny Fairplay and Rupert, but she proved after 7 seasons that UTR (that’s “under the radar”) can win you the game. Famously, she told the jury during Tribal Council that she played the game as a vote for sale. She would vote for anyone as long as it wasn’t her.
Parvati Shallow
Survivor 13 Cook Islands and Survivor 16 Fans vs Favorites
Parvati made the jury her first time around with a strategy of looking pretty and flirting with hot boys. By the time FvF came up, she was determined to show she had game. She still flirted, but her early alliance dominated the game before ditching the men, blindsiding Ozzy, creating a super female fivesome and leading them to an all female final four. She won FvF by beating Amanda in the final Tribal Council.

Survivor 13 Cook Islands
Candice who? That was my reaction… then I remembered. She was the athletic blonde who famously jumped ship in Season 13’s big twist. Both she and Jonathon Penner pulled off a mutiny by taking Jeff Probst up on his offer to leave their tribe and join the other one. As a result their tribe was 8 strong, leaving Becky, Sundra, Ozzy and Yul alone in a tribe of four. In one of the greatest narratives of the series, that four survived and became the final four.

Survivor 2 Australia and Survivor 8 All Stars
What heroes vs villains would be complete without Survivor’s ultimate bitch? She famously accused Kel of sneaking beef jerky into the game in Australia and then proceeded to drive everyone bonkers, including Colby who engineered her exit. She was voted out 8th, but made the jury. In All Stars she tried hard to redeem her image but the public didn’t buy it. She even cried during the reunion show after being booed. She was voted out 7th, just missing the jury. Before she left, she managed to get whatever revenge she thought she needed by taking out studly Colby.
Ok. Here’s where things get confusing. The spoilers are not at all sure about the last spots for the girls. It looks like two of the spots are going to Cirie Fields (Survivor 12 Panama and FvF), Tina Wesson (Survivor 2 Australia and All Stars) or Sierra Reed (Survivor 18 Tocantins). The last spot up for grabs appears to be between Danielle DiLorenzo (Survivor 12 Panama) and Danni Boatwright (Survivor 11 Guatemala).

Cirie is another one of my all time faves and I really hope she gets a third try. Her social game play is perhaps the best we’ve seen. Despite her lack of physical prowess and the fact that she HATES camping, she has been very successful in this game- perhaps too successful. In both seasons she was viewed as too popular to take up against the jury. She made it to the final episode in both seasons but finished fourth and third. In Panama, Cirie pulled off what some consider to be the only triple blindside. Anyone remember that stroke of genius?
Tina Wesson
Survivor 2 Australia and Survivor 8 All Stars
Tina perfected a strategy that many still play today. She aligned herself with someone who would always have a bigger target on his back than her. She used her charm and wit to convince Colby to take her to the final 2 even though he would have had a better shot against the much-disliked Keith. In All Stars, she was one of the first ones voted out because many feared her clever charm.
Sierra Reed
Survivor 18 Tocantins
Sierra was Coach and Tyson’s nemesis. They picked on her, viewed her as weak, tried to manipulate and break her. Her time on Survivor was a struggle, but she managed to hold it together and turn the game against Tyson and Coach by selling them out to Taj, JT, and Stephen. Her rant exposing Coach and Debbie’s hypocritical game play was one of the best moments of Season 18.
Danielle DiLorenzo (Survivor 12 Panama) and Danni Boatwright (Survivor 11 Guatemala)
There’s confusion about which Danielle got picked, but neither of them really stood out to me. Sure Danni won Guatemala, but it was not one of my favourite seasons. Danielle was the runner up to super cutie Aras in Panama. I’m not sure why either of them are memorable enough to earn a spot. Here’s hoping these two are wrong and original runner up Kelly Wigglesworth makes the big comeback!

NFL Playoff Brackets And Schedule 2010
NFL Playoff schedule 2009-2010 is now available to around the world. The schedule of NFL Playoff contains Titans who head into the playoffs with home field benefit even if they lost to Indianapolis. San Diego also made it to playoff.
On January 3rd and 4th 2010, the First round of the NFL Playoffs takes place and will play against the Sixth Seed VS. the Third Seed and the Fifth Seed VS the Fourth Seed. The seeded teams (first and second) obtain to relax up and see who makes it to the divisional round.
The divisional round of NFL Playoff will take place on Saturday and Sunday, January 10-11. The winner of the first round games will see to take on the first and second seeds. The higher seed will play the lowest seed. Super Bowl XLIV will be played on Sun., February 7, 2010.

More than half a million people downloaded the band’s famously anti-authoritarian and expletive laden track “Killing in the Name” in what was seen as a broad protest against the increasing influence of manufactured pop music.
It is the first time a non-X-Factor song has made it to Christmas number one for four years and represents a major snub to the show’s creator Simon Cowell who angrily described the campaign to him another number one slot as “very Scrooge”.
X-Factor winner McElderry was less than a year old when Rage Against the Machine stormed onto the LA rock scene in 1992 with their self-titled debut album which went triple platinum and effectively gave birth to the nu-metal rock scene by blending heavy metal guitar riffs with politically charged rap lyrics. Earlier in the week he listened to “Killing in the Name” for the first time and described it as “dreadful”.

In recent years, it had become as predictable as elections in North Korea – singer wins X Factor, singer's debut single goes to No 1. So when Joe McElderry won the TV talent contest, he was no doubt confident he would celebrate Christmas at the top of the charts.
Alas for the 18-year-old from South Shields, it wasn't to be: a song almost his own age denied him the top spot after a successful online campaign.
Killing In The Name, an expletive-heavy rock song first released in 1992 by the Californian rock band Rage Against the Machine, won the battle for Christmas top spot on the basis of downloads only. It sold about 500,000 copies last week, about 50,000 more than The Climb, McElderry's earnest ballad.
Depending on your view, the Rage victory was either a delicious dismantling of the X Factor Christmas No 1 juggernaut or a cynical assault on the festive charts. There was, though, some indignation when it emerged both records had links to Simon Cowell, the entertainment industry's favourite pantomime baddy. With the Rage track having been released by Sony, and McElderry's by Cowell's Syco, a Sony subsidiary, some claimed the high-waisted X Factor judge would emerge triumphant whichever act won the chart battle.
